Our Theory of Change
Our Theory of Change
The Pasteur Network’s work is guided by four strategic pillars:
PILLAR 1
Epidemic Preparedness and Intelligence with a focus on Climate sensitive diseases
Addressing emerging health challenges through surveillance and research, particularly on climate-sensitive diseases
PILLAR 2
Research, Development and Innovation
Advancing scientific understanding and technological innovation in public health and biomedicine
PILLAR 3
Multi-disciplinary Knowledge Communities
Fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and global knowledge exchange and enhancing expertise to empower the next generation of scientific leaders
PILLAR 4
Good Governance and Equity
Establishing governance structures and practices that are both effective and equitable, with a focus on financial fairness and sustainable operations
Global footprint
Over 5k researchers, engineers, & technicians, spread across the globe, making the PN well placed to respond to emerging outbreaks, various determinants of health challenges & other pressing global health issues
Presence in francophone countries and ‘data deserts’
Unmatched presence in Francophone countries across continents (Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia) and deep knowledge of local ecosystems in areas where collecting quality data can be challenging (e.g., Sahel, Amazonia)
Local legitimacy & public health mandate
Leading public health facilities in their respective countries and regions with connected diagnostic and research laboratories, which affords them national credibility and goodwill
Globally important research competencies
Forefront of critical research (e.g., mRNA, emerging infectious disease) across diverse environments (n.b., within locations rich in biodiversity, endemic hotspots, & emerging public health challenges)
R&D and innovation investments
Deeply engaged in biotechnology research (e.g., therapeutic, diagnostic, and vaccine innovation & manufacturing), especially in the Global South where there is opportunity to expand and target a critical affordability challenge
Driven by a strong mission and vision, and fortified by shared values.
The Pasteur Network is focussed on strengthening our global network of local and regional actors to foster collective action and resource/knowledge sharing on pressing health and scientific challenges to guide policy.
